There are those mornings where you hit snooze too many times, or your alarm doesn’t go off at all. Ya know, when you wake up and realize you have 10 minutes to get ready, eat, and walk to class? Okay fine, this happens way more often than I would like to admit – I am just not a morning person. But no fear, I have managed to cut my morning routine down to just the essentials and developed an actual 5 minute makeup routine.
Step one: wash face & moisturize
If you have time for this, then by all means do it. But, if it’s a “barely have time to brush your teeth before you head out the door” morning, I would say that this one is optional. I usually wash my face at night, and because I have combo/slightly dry skin, I can get by without washing it again in the morning. If I do decide to wash my face I’ll use Neutrogena’s Grapefruit and Up & Up’s Sensitive Moisturizer.
Step two: apply foundation and/or powder
Liquid foundation is my go-to everyday product for this step, but sometimes it can be tricky to apply in a hurry. Instead, I have been opting for using only powder when I’m in a rush. I recently was able to try Maybelline’s Better-Skin powder* and I am in love. It’s part powder, part cream foundation, and I adore the light coverage it gives. It won’t give you the full coverage of a normal foundation, but it does work wonders in a matter of seconds when you’re rushed.
Step three: mascara
If I could only pick one makeup product, mascara would be it. The dramatic difference it can make with just one coat is astonishing. This is probably the longest step of this routine, because I personally like to apply multiple coats everyday. I’ve recently been using Covergirl’s The Super Sizer, but y’all know my mascara changes all the time.
Step four: eyebrows
I have light eyebrows, especially for having naturally medium brown hair. I usually fill in my eyebrows in using shadow or a pencil everyday. But, when I have absolutely no time I opt for a tinted gel (like Benefit’s Gimme Brow). This helps keep them in place and gives them some color.
Step five: blush
The last step in this routine would be to put on a peachy blush before running out the door. Blush gives my face some dimension, and helps me look a little more awake. I have been loving the Wet n Wild Illuminating pallette in Catwalk Pink because it works as a blush and a highlight!
After this, I grab my coffee and head out the door. I have yet to master a quick hairstyle, so it’s usually just thrown into a messy bun or a dutch braid. While I don’t think makeup is at all necessary every single day, I think it makes me look at least a little more put together.
How do you guys get ready in a rush?
