Okay, so the title of this post is a little dramatic. I am definitely not a “new year, new me” type of person, but I do know that 2017 is going to be quite the transition year. In May, I’ll graduate from Ohio State, and with no immediate plans for grad school, embark on a journey through post-grad life. For the first time in my life, school won’t be in the picture, which is a little terrifying. It is nerve-wracking that I have no idea what the next 6 months will hold, but I am definitely excited.
Before plunging in to 2017, I decided I should take some time to reflect on the last year. Overall, 2016 was not a bad time. I spent time in Florida for spring break, and traveled to NYC and ATL over the summer. I also turned 21, and spent my summer exploring Columbus. In November, I had the opportunity to vote in my first presidential election, which is a milestone for a political junkie, like myself. In between, I watched a lot of football, listened to podcasts, and watched Netflix.
My year in pictures…
As I mentioned above, 2017 will be full of new experiences for me. My final semester of college will start with an internship and (hopefully) end with graduation. I have set a few goals and focus areas that I wanted to share with you.
School: I am very excited to start an internship with a state department and also finish up my degree. I also plan to spend lots of time with friends and thoroughly enjoy my last semester. The work never stops, but college definitely does.
Blogging: I fully intend to publish as many college-themed posts as possible before I am no longer relevant in the college lifestyle world. With my internship, I also plan to create a few work outfit or internship inspired posts. I am still not sure how exactly I will rebrand my blog after graduation, but I think I am going to keep it lifestyle-focused.
Lifestyle: I don’t have any major lifestyle change plans for 2017, but my focus is going to be on physical health. Self-care and mental health were the focus for me in 2016, and I learned the importance of taking care of myself mentally and emotionally. Now, I am going to prioritize eating well, drinking more water, and consistently working out.
Hobbies: With everything school and work wise I plan to undertake this year, I think it is important to also concentrate on a few fun things, in addition to blogging of course. The first I plan to take up would be hand lettering. I have always loved watching the videos on Instagram and reading Abigail’s hand lettering posts from Living the Gray Life.
I’m anxiously excited to see what this next year has in store! I’d love to have you stick around and enjoy the journey with me!
