I am definitely a creature of habit with most activities in my life and my daily makeup routine is no different. As much as I love looking at exotic beauty looks on Pinterest and YouTube, I hardly ever change up my own. The only time I don’t partake in the routine I am about to tell you about would be when I “accidentally” hit snooze 7 times and end up running late for work or class. This post is also an update to my older everyday makeup routine!
Prep & Prime:
The first step for me is to moisturize and prime my face. I first use Up & Up’s Sensitive Skin Moisturizer and then Nivea’s Sensitive Skin Post Shave Balm as primer. I know the latter is a men’s product, but it works great as a foundation base also! I use Urban Decay Primer Potion as an eyeshadow primer, this product is slightly pricey but a little goes a long way!
Next, I apply foundation and concealer. I have been using Revlon’s ColorStay for quite some time, but they recently changed the formula and I am not a fan. I will be in the market for a new foundation once I am done with these bottles! I typically use a Beauty Blender to apply!
For concealer, I have been always been a fan of NYX Concealer in a Jar because it gets the job done and is under $5! Recently, I purchased Wet n’ Wild’s Come Correct Concealer (also under $5) and I am in love so far!
I usually move to eyes after this step, but for the sake of the organization of this post, I will finish up my face makeup. I use Rimmel StayMatte Powder all over my face to set my concealer and foundation, and then I apply blush and highlight. Wet n’ Wild just recently redid many of their products and I have been loving the Illuminating Palette in Catwalk Pink. I use the lighter shades for highlight, and the darker ones as a blush. If I somehow have enough time in the morning, I will contour using the Wet n’ Wild MegaGlo Palette.
Eyes are definitely my favorite part of applying makeup and generally where I spend the most time. Recently, I have been reaching for my well-loved Naked2 Palette for everyday eyeshadow. I have been using Bootycall all over the lid, with Suspect in the crease and outer corner. If I want to darken up the look I will usually use Snakebite or YDK.
I actually don’t wear eyeliner every single day, but when I do I usually use the Wet n’ Wild MegaLiner. I switch up my mascara all the time, but my current choice is The Super Sizer by CoverGirl. The last step for me is eyebrows, and I use one of the light brown shades from the Nudes Palette by Maybelline. After, I go over my eyebrows with Gimme Brow by Benefit or a clear brow gel.
As mentioned above, I typically use a Beauty Blender to apply foundation. But, I have been using Sigma brushes for years to apply concealer, eyeshadow, blush, powder, etc. I have had them for quite awhile and they still work like a charm. The ELF Studio line also has great brushes and is a cheaper alternative. I keep my brushes in a reusable red cup because #college.
There you have it! My overly wordy everyday routine and go-to, trusty products. Please don’t judge the messy products, they were not planning to be photographed today!
