Last summer, I developed a slight obsession with podcasts. While working nearly full-time, I quickly became bored of listening to music at work. I now prefer listening to podcasts as my background noise while blogging, getting ready, cleaning, or just simply passing time. Podcasts are informative, thought-provoking, hilarious, entertaining … and everything in-between. It can take some time to find your favorite podcasts, and I am always on the hunt for new ones to listen to.
Today, I am sharing a few of the podcasts I enjoy. I hope those of you who haven’t looked into the podcast world will give it a try! If you already listen to podcasts, I hope you’ll share a few of your favorites with me.
Anything NPR: In high school, my father drove me to school for most of my freshman and sophomore years. Every morning, we would always listen to NPR on the radio. This is a habit that has stuck with me, although these days I do most of my listening online. My favorites by NPR are Serial, This American Life, and the Politics podcast. Side note: S-Town was just realized and I cannot wait to give it a listen!
Guys We’ve F**cked: The name is a little vulgar, but their message is on point. These two stand-up comedians discuss female empowerment and have guests from all walks of life. The two are absolutely hilarious, while also maintaining their passion.
HerMoney with Jean Chatzky: As a broke college student who stresses about
everything finances, it is refreshing to listen to a financial podcast catered toward women. I find Dave Ramsey to be a tad intimidating, but I want to still be informed financially. I want to make sure I am making the right decisions now to benefit me in the future.
My Favorite Murder: As a sociology student, I have studied deviance, crime, and criminology extensively. I find true crime stories to be interesting, and really enjoy podcasts of that nature. They also have started a Facebook community full of true crime fans.
Technically We’re Adults: My friend Veronica created a podcast as a way to document her college experiences. I actually guest-starred on an episode, titled Dear Freshmen, which was super fun!
